The new Android Auto 7.5 updated

The new Android Auto app from Google brings support for the Android Auto cars, linking them to devices running at least Android 5.0.x.

Of course, Android Auto requires an active data connection, and some of the apps might require an update, including for Google Maps, Google Play Music, or Google Search. Android Auto is still young project, so some problems are to be expected.

The new version is Android Auto 7.5, and it comes only a few weeks after the very same update made its way to the beta testing channel. In theory, Android Auto 7.5 going live for production devices means the testing phase was completed successfully, and no issues should exist whatsoever.

Android Auto is a lifesaver for anyone who relies on their smartphone for directions and navigation. It also makes meeting your infotainment needs simple and you can use it in a variety of vehicles. It's a generally decent experience that will hopefully continue to improve, as just a few weeks after Android Auto 7.5 made its way into beta testing, according to Auto Evolution, it's now available from the Google Play Store.

Even if Android Auto 7.5 seems like a solid update, it could always cause issues for users satisfied with the 7.4 experience. That it's out suggests beta-testing went well, so ideally, there shouldn't be any major problems. That's not always how things turn out, of course — even if Android Auto 7.5 works like a charm at first, there's always a chance it will introduce new bugs for users who were more or less satisfied with their Android Auto experience.

On the hand, we can tell you what’s certainly missing: the Coolwalk update. We’ve known for a while the search giant is preparing a massive overhaul codenamed Coolkwalk, but in version 7.5, the work continues under the hood, with no visible improvements for users out there.

Coolwalk will provide users with a CarPlay dashboard-inspired UI that will essentially allow them to run multiple apps side by side in what seems to be a card-based interface. Needless to say, the Coolwalk update has become one very anticipated release, but so far, Google has remained completely tight-lipped on the whole thing.

If anything, I expect the Coolwalk update to go live in the summer, possibly after Google announces it at its developer conference.

The Android Auto 7.5 rollout takes place in stages through the Google Play Store, so if you want to try it out today without waiting, here’s where you can find the stand-alone APK installer for a manual update.
